I felt like I had stepped back in time when a salon was truly about cutting hair and not the tea or latte or trendiest product. And believe me that is the experience I have had for over 15 years since moving to NY. Marie cut my hair and did an incredible job! I am so happy and will continue to entrust her with my long locks. She listened to what I wanted and offered her opinion on how to best achieve the look I wanted. Thank you Marie. I will see you again soon!

Marie gave me the best haircut I've had in years for almost half of what I was paying elsewhere. From the moment I sat down in her chair, I knew I was in good hands - she took one look at me and immediately had suggestions on how to improve my style to better suit my face shape. It's evident from even her smallest techniques that she's very experienced - she found my natural part in seconds without a word from me, which for some reason is something stylists always seem to have trouble with in my experience. This was also the first time in years that I didn't go home and immediately wash my hair because I hated how the stylist had styled it. Overall, my impression was that Marie was very sweet, very reasonable, and very talented. She had lots of great advice on hair maintenance/coloring and clearly listened to what I was hoping to achieve with my style. The salon itself isn't luxurious, but it's clean and neat and functional. Better yet, I was able to get an appointment the same day I called, there was no wait when I arrived, and I was out the door in under an hour. I left with a flattering, chic, low-maintenance style that was exactly what I wanted. What more could I ask for? (One note - Marie prefers to be paid by check if possible, so if you're like me and usually leave your checkbook at home, remember to bring it!) Thanks Marie! I'll definitely be back. :-)

If you are looking for a "no frills salon', where Marie does everything herself, from washing, to coloring, to styling and is actually quite talented at a very reasonable price, then this is the place for you. It may take a little longer because Marie does not rush, is a perfectionist and operates alone. Don't be afraid if you see an older clientele, as they are quite loyal, Marie is great at styling and coloring the younger crowd as well. The surroundings are quite dated, but don't let that be a deterrent. If you want to pay more for splashy surroundings and an expresso, this may not be for you.
