This is surely the BEST Dominican hair salon in Bay Shore & possibly all of Long Island... I have natural African American hair texture and I have been going to Cayena for 8+ years. She takes care of my natural hair by being gentle and using QUALITY hair products. She also has the same price of other salons that don't. (25 for a wash and set.) She NEVER puts a straightener to my hair and gets it just as straight, if not straighter than salons that do. She has never burned my scalp or head while blow drying which has occurred at many other salons. I trust this woman with anything and she can do anything to hair from weave, perms, dyes. She takes her time while doing hair and does a marvelous job. I won't go anywhere else!

Wow. I had what was considered "the unintentional ombre", which is when you just let you hair grow out and either lightly dye the roots to cover the gray, or just deal with it. My hair is very spiral-curly, but it is also insanely porous and dark - which is why most stylists think I need a crazy light color to lift. Turns out I just need a 40 developer. I was thinking about doing it myself. Problem? I had about 6" of dark growth that I tried to color myself and failed, and then this orange-y color tfrom the last failed attempt to "go pro" - trying to achieve a light brown, and ending up an odd blonde (still have about 6" to go!). So I had two colors - and didn't want either one of them - but I couldn't figure out how to make both colors blend. Owner Chana went to work. The 40 developer stung so bad - but since my hair is porous - had I kept it longer than 15 minutes and did it tmyself - I'm convinced all my hair would have broken off. Chana knew that much, saw the color take and immediately added "celophane" color to the bottom blonde - and my hair came out an almost perfectly seamless light brown with reddish undertones. Absolutely beautiful. My hair is dark brown with reddish undertones. When a stylist doesn't know what they are doing - they try harsh blonde colors to achieve a light brown - but yellow+red = orange. Which is what happened to me 3 years ago. Chana knew what to do - and I hope she never retires! The salon is beautiful, and she is also very reasonably priced. 10 stars!
