What an incredible experience! It's about 44 minutes away from Santa Fe, New Mexico. We visited the springs/spa on a Thursday. We got to the Dario/spa at 11:30. We had a light lunch at the spa. It was a quaint restaurant with a simple but very fulfilling menu. For our appetizer we had chips and guacamole. I had a simple but tasty lemon dressing kale salad. My hubby had the Caesar salad. Good food but the experience was in the springs. You check in at the desk and the facility is open to the public even if you don't spend a night at their hotel. After lunch we started in the Iron springs. The springs is set at 102 degrees. We stayed in each spring about ten minutes. Then we went to the soda spring. It was a cave like setting set at 102 degrees. All springs have medicinal healing. Next I tried the mud bath. My favorite! It was a fountain of red mud. I doused my body in mud and then laid in a chaise lounge to let it bake in. After ten minutes I washed it off. My skin felt smooth and tight. We'll be back!

We went here for the day as part of a special 55th birthday celebration. There were four of us. We each had spa treatments, we had lunch at the spa restaurant and then time in the pools. I had three treatments scheduled: Reflexology Foot Therapy - Excellent Youthful Glow - Excellent Round Barn Apothecary Hair Therapy - not worth the money. They put the oil in my hair, moved it around long enough to ensure it was spread throughout my hair and then wrapped it in a towel. The treatment read: massaged into your head and scalp. I must have left the room during the head massage because I never felt anything close to a head massage. One other person also signed up for three treatments and said two were really good and the third one was a nothing. The other two people in our party signed up for a single treatment and they were very relaxed and enjoyed their treatment. So I guess the trick is not to order three sessions in the same day because you will be cheated on the third one. We went to the Artesian Restaurant after our treatments for some lunch before partaking of the pools. First of all once "Artesian" means it will be more expensive. In addition there is a $5 charge if you share food. This is not acceptable to me. We were told the salads were large. They were so we ordered the "special" beet salad to share as an appetizer. Well the beet salad had 8 thin slices of small beets. Yes we hunted for the beets in the beet salad. Then the special was the bug in the salad. Yes they took it off the bill. Tortilla soup was ok. The chicken enchiladas were good. The hamburger was ok. The truffle fries were good. The chicken pot pie won, it was tasty! Service was average at best.
