I am sad to read some of the comments here about Yannie. I think people dont understand that its just her and Jimmie that does hair. She doesn’t have a salon staff. Her videos are clear about what she does and doesn’t do. She has the right to not want to start locs. She has the right to not want to do styles. She has stated in her videos very clearly why she feels the way she feels about these matters. She doesn’t have to provide a reason but she does. I dont agree with the Shenequa comment but I understand what she was saying as perhaps a style was described to her ( who hasnt used the term ghetto to describe something tacky??? I first heard about her on YouTube. I decided to take a chance and call for an appointment. She called back, asked several questions, and the appointment was eventually made.Once I got there, her husband washed my hair. This man was extremely thorough. I was torn between enjoying the wash/head massage or falling asleep. Then Yannie herself did my locs. She was gentle and quick. Whitl doing my hair, we chatted as if we knew each other for years, and this was only my first appointment.The service I received here made it worth the trip (Brooklyn, NY to Irvington, NJ) and they found a repeat customer in me. I've gone a few times more since and plan to continue doing so.
I have not officially had an appointment with Yannie but her website has proved to be the faithful factor of why my children's locs and mine continue to flourish. The website tells you exactly what products to use, the products not to use, and when to use them. It has really helped us on this disrespectful journey! ❤
