I had an experience at this barbershop that was a mix of frustration and unexpected kindness. As a deaf client , I waited for over an hour, feeling completely ignored by most of the barbers, who all left at the same time together without acknowledging me. It was disheartening, to say the least. However, Frankie, one of the barbers, stood out. Despite being very busy, he took the time to come up front, noticed I was deaf, and communicated with me using some ASL, which meant a lot. Frankie does an incredible job every time and he’s highly recommended for kiddos with sensory issues. While getting a haircut for my son can be challenging at times, Frankie creates a safe and sensor friendly environment for him to be comfortable and to be his authentic self. At our last appointment, Frankie recognized that my son was having a sensory overload moment, he offered to cut his hair in another room with less distractions and noise. This simple gesture worked and my son was able to finish his haircut. At every appointment Frankie takes his time, shows compassion, communicates effectively and offers support.
