I have been using Zero Surge surge eliminators for the last 7 years. Prior to that I was using MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) based surge protectors in the home. One of the MOV based units clicked/popped one day and then started a fire in the process. Luckily I was home at the time and saw what had happened and put the fire out. All that is left is a burn mark on the carpet. Since then I have replaced all the surge protectors in the home with units made by Zero Surge, Brickwall (made by Zero Surge) and SurgeX.
