“I discovered a small piece of rot fall from the upper frame of my sliding door that leads to a patio, and above which a balcony deck is attached. It was unclear the extent of the rot but it was obvious it needed attention. The cause turned out to be flashing under the balcony deck improperly installed 34 years ago. I was advised to get someone really experienced and skilled to look at it and to deal with it. The header supporting the upper two floors of my house was potentially at risk.

The job ended up being pretty big. The balcony deck had to be removed to get at the problem area, all three planks of the header were compromised and had to be replaced, sheathing along the exterior wall where rot had spread undetected under the siding had to be replaced, and new deck boards were put in place. Mike installed a water seal membrane and new flashing to insure no future rot. He was attentive to not replacing wood that was still strong even though water stained.
I also had Mike do gutter repair work for me. It's quality work whether it is a big job or a small job and his fees are reasonable.“
