Martial Arts Schools near Bellevue

“Both my daughters have been going here for about a year and half. Both have progressed well and really enjoy the classes.

My oldest daughter has autism (level 1) and when they first started the transition to a new sport was very difficult for her. Master K was extremely flexible in allowing her to get comfortable in her own time. For about 3 months she took half-long classes until she was confident enough. Now, she goes Monday - Thursday most weeks and practices both BJJ and Taekwondo.

My youngest daughter has ADHD and struggles with focus while the instructors are demonstrating. He has always been patient and stern with her - providing reminders but also making her sit out while she gets recentered to concentrate. She has made so much progress in following along and just received her camo belt.

Overall, great teacher, great environment. He knows everyone's name and is so encouraging while also spreading wonderful messages of doing your best, being a good friend and leader.

The only negative I have is communication. If not for this I would easily give 5 stars. They are great about posting events and information about upcoming tournaments, but belt testing and class closures are sometimes difficult to keep track of. Their used to be paper newsletters every month that was very helpful, but now everything is on a TV that changes screens. So, unless you see it you're SOL. There is a FB group so it would be cool if belt testing, etc. was also posted there as a reminder for busy parents - just a suggestion. Outside of that, we have been so pleased with this institution and can see how it has helped both of our daughters.“

“My son is in the little dragon program and it's perfect for the age bracket. (3 to 7 I believe, he is 4) Just the right amount of structure and fun, teaching them discipline and how to follow instructions. This isn't one of those daycare type karate places, if they are not listening and do not show they understand what's being taught they do not progress them through the belt and stripe system, which is how it should be.“

“My 8 year-old son has been training Taekwondo at Zanshin for a little over a year and the results have been remarkable. Master Dan and the other instructors do an excellent job of teaching the kids how to defend themselves while also emphasizing that fighting is a last resort. In addition, they emphasize personal responsibility and discipline that has an impact at home, school and beyond.

I never intended to take part in training. However, I have some previous martial arts experience and after observing class for a few weeks it was plainly obvious that Dan and all of the other instructors absolutely know what they are doing, which is definitely not the case everywhere. I have been training Combat Hapkido at the school for close to a year now and would recommend it to any adult. Whether you are looking for practical self defense techniques to use in the unfortunate situation that you need them out in the world or just to have a a great time training with a bunch of good people, this is the place for you. 5 stars.“

“This is the place to be if you’re trying to there with what you need in martial arts. The best education , action and reaction all in perpetual motion through a team of awesome instructors. A community that’s welcoming and still doesn’t have a problem throwing you to the ground. Then helping you up. This dojo is unique in several ways and in a great way.“

“It's just amazing. They teach the style in a fun and engaging way, and it will leave you coming back wanting more. He teaches sits in a way that makes sick catch on, and he gives you time and it doesn't matter if you mess up. They're all about learning in self defense. We can't forget are discipline now.
