Located in the center of Seagrove, NC the pottery capital of the U.S., the NC Pottery Center offers a fantastic museum and gift shop explaining the 250+ year history of pottery in central North Carolina. Displays explained how pottery evolved through time, construction methods, and glazed. My wife is a potter so I knew much of the information. The museum does a very good job in explaining other info I wasn't familiar with.

I had no idea that Randolph county was known for pottery until I was passing through a lovely rest area in Seagrove. I decided to stop by the center which has a nice gift shop; small, inexpensive museum and gallery, as well as event space.
I picked up a cute little bowl and a map so I can visit local galleries and potters in the future!

Ok, full transparency, I wasn't sure I wanted to take the tour. How interesting can pottery be? VERY INTERESTING!! Wow! And a great place to begin a Seagrove pottery day! We got excellent advice and suggestions and we enjoyed every potter we went to afterwards. We got some amazing pottery in the gift shop! I am really impressed.
