Natural looking color takes a lot of skill, and Claire Ashby has it. My hair can grow out and still look great. I have always been happy with her cuts, as well. Claire is truly a perfectionist. The atmosphere at Boylan Heights Studio is very laid back and can get quite entertaining. I highly recommend Claire Ashby.

Claire has been cutting and coloring my hair for 4-5 years now. First of all, I just like her, and she's definitely become a friend over the time she's been cutting my hair. She's been around Raleigh a long time, so she knows what's going on and is just a cool person. As a hairdresser, she knows what to do with my hair. I have wavy/curly fine yet very thick hair. It's a dark ash blonde naturally, and in the past year, I'm starting to get more grey. She is great with curls. In fact, I probably have 10-15 friends with curly hair who also go to Claire because of her reputation for knowing what to do with curly hair. I have her cut it so I don't have to do much to it afterwards. Claire also knows how to color my hair. She's very flexible about what I need. If I tell her I'm broke, so it needs to last a while, she does more fine subtle highlights. If I'm able to come in more regularly, she can really make it pop (if that's what I want). I've learned that she is more conservative with how she cuts. So she'll never go in and assume you want any more cut than you've said. In fact, I've had to say, "Go ahead! Be more drastic!" Honestly, this is such a better a problem than the opposite, and I really appreciate that. Too much cut when that's not what you want can be a scary thing. That will never happen with Claire. The studio is on a quiet little bend in a street in Boylan Heights. It's a very relaxing place to sit and chat while you have your hair done. I imagine I'll be going to see Claire at Boylan Heights as long as it's possible. BTW, I know some non-curly folks who go to Claire, too. She can do that, but curls are her specialty.

I have been seeing Claire for my haircuts for almost 10 years, and she's awesome. She's always up for trying something new and we collaborate on the look so when I walk out of the studio I'm always happy. I also trust her judgement. She's steered me away from some looks because it wouldn't look quite right on me. I can't recommend her enough!
