Staff is a nightmare!!! Company comprised of Karens, extremely rude women. Had an incident where I parked in the wrong spot and needed to be directed by a neighboring building. Lady is coming to bang on my window and bringing her coworkers out to threaten to call the law on me after I stated I would leave immediately when directed to a safe space I would not be towed or fined in, I mean hey I get it id rather harass people than work at 8am but definitely a bad look for this company. Also caught one of them by their door in the morning just staring me down very uncomfortable….

In this sweet Southern town of New Bern, N.C. where everyone is polite and kind, the folks at Salem Smith Register and Knott are the best of the best. Professional with up to date knowledge they also make you feel as though you are part of the family. They take care of you. I feel safe and secure with Tony Salem and his great office.

Tony Salem has to be one of the most snide arrogant people I've ever paid for a service. Since we were new to the area we asked around and someone told use to try Salem and Associates. After three phone calls Tony finally met with me and reviewed our previous years taxes and said he would try to stay close to what our prior CPA charged. He spent quite a bit of time chit chatting and later said he had 1.5hrs in interview time that he didn't charge for. This man wants to charge you for setting foot in his door and all without ever speaking a word of what he will bill you for. He will never discuss rates so beware! After 3 1/2 weeks of waiting we were told our file slipped through the crack and would be done shortly. When we finally went to pick up the taxes we had a few follow up questions. The secretary at the front, who is not tactful at all, told me I could not speak with Tony. I called and left two more messages and never received a call back. A few weeks later a bill finally arrives that is 175% higher than what our previous CPA charged. Our old CPA sat with us when returning taxes to explain how all the numbers factored into the taxes. Tony Salem simply sends you on your way while he sits back and waits for a check. When I finally got him on the phone he was chewing on a piece of candy and acted like he could care less about how he or his company treated a customer. His exact words were "if you want a cheap price I'm not the guy for you". He was the one that said he could keep it close to a price. Ask about his charges because he will not discuss them.
