It took my wife and me 18+ months to find a deck contractor who wasn't interested in telling us what we should do, but instead, was thrilled to help us bring our vision to reality. I have nothing but praise for the Exterior Additions team, so be prepared as you read on. EA delivered exactly what we dreamt up. They encouraged our ideas, provided much-needed advice, and built us an outdoor space we share with our 4 cats every day. The Exterior Additions team was extremely professional, punctual, and clear about the work they were doing and when it would be done. The office and project manager were very communicative, keeping us informed and checking in regularly via email, text, and calls to ensure everything was going according to plan. While it may sound crazy, Exterior Additions convinced us to tear down the existing deck and start new, rather than adding to the existing deck structure. This was the best decision ever. After only three years in this new construction home, there was already damage to the house due to poor construction of the original deck. Thanks to Exterior Additions for identifying and mitigating this issue! The overall construction of our new deck is far superior to any other work we have seen. Exterior Additions used top-quality construction materials and thought through the engineering to accommodate a 7x7 hot tub that is recessed into the deck five feet off the ground. When you look at the deck, it is amazing. They matched everything up, so it looks like the ~800 sq foot deck was there from day one. The ~15x20 foot enclosed portion of the deck is beautiful. The EZE-Breeze windows are perfect, and the dual fans circulating air have made these early summer nights amazing and comfortable. We intentionally overdid it with the electrical outlets, so there is power anywhere you sit, and the Exterior Additions electricians pulled a networking cable into the space so we have steady, stable, fast internet outside too. We added heaters and can't wait to spend time outside during the North Carolina winters. Exterior Additions elevated our space by taking it from simple workmanship to true craftsmanship. Minor details do matter. Corners align, the Trex Transcend floor is perfectly straight, and every board is exactly spaced. The 12-foot vaulted ceiling and accompanying shiplap wall make our outdoor space feel spacious and grand when we step out to sit for a bite or to read, watch TV, surf the Internet, or just chill. If it is raining, no problem—we just close the EZE-Breeze windows. I am proud to have an Exterior Additions deck and would gladly speak to our experience.
Let me start by saying we got a handful of quotes and met with other local vendors for our screen porch and patio project… from the moment we met with Exterior Additions (Josh), we knew they were the team for us! So glad we selected EA… the entire process was handled professionally, with care and attention to detail. They handled everything as if it were their own home they were working on, from quotes, layout revisions, to managing city permits and inspections, to the actual build, everything was hassle free for us. (This was especially appreciated by us because we had a newborn baby to take care of during the build.) Murray, Mike and the rest of the team were onsite and on time when they had communicated they would be every single time! They kept the job site very clean and made sure to tidy up from the driveway all the way to the backyard before they left everyday. We were blown away by the quality of work, you can’t even tell it’s an addition it blends in so we’ll with our existing home! We would 1,000% recommend Exterior Additions, and we absolutely LOVE our screen porch and patio!
