Made an unexpected trip to NC from TX, on my way home a large tree branch fell on my windshield.I was in the middle of nowhere. No phone signal to speak of. The very helpful people at Fines Creek community called the sheriff's office. The officer called me a tow truck.WNC answered the call. The driver understood my situation, gave me information for windshield replacement and brought me and my car to a hotel in a safe area. Not gonna lie, the man who answered my call was ready and willing to save my life if i had become stranded in the mountains last week. Luckily I didn't need assistance after all, but the brief phone conversation I had with this local hero gave me the confidence I needed to risk running out of gas before I reached the next exit. Thanks to him I can still maintain eye contact with my wife without feeling shame.
