The front desk staff definitely need customer service training. I have an appointment coming up, and I hope that it's a better experience or I will be buying my glasses elsewhere.

It had been about three years since my last eye examination. I set an appointment just recently to have my eyes examined again because of the encouragement I had received from my wife. I had been using an inexpensive pair of readers for quite some time for home office work primarily but have also been using them more and more while driving in the car to see more clearly the directions the navigation app was giving. I really needed a pair of glasses that I could wear constantly, without having to take off while I was driving, etc. . So, to this end I am righting a review. Clarkson Eyecare took over Specc shop. The eye doctors and fitters are great. However, I did not feel very welcome from the ladies at the front desk. In my most recent experience(I've come here maybe 5-6 times) I brought in just a prescription with the objective of ordering glasses for my special needs son at home. The front desk experience was poor. After sporadic back and forth questioning by front desk staff over 10 minutes or so; I was told to just sit down and I would be called. I waited exactly 1 hour(as a walk-in). When I was called by the fitter who had the prescription paper I brought and pair of frames I had picked out for my child, she asked me where my child was. I replied he was home. Fitter then said that the child needed to be present in order to get measurements that are not included on a prescription paper. I thanked her and then knew I would have to come back with my special needs son. What's the problem? Nothing really. But if the front staff knew that additional information would be required and that my child would need to be present for two measurements, why didn't they say as much instead of me just sitting there for an hour? Total disconnect in efficiency, let alone the frustration a patron feels for having just wasted an hour for nothing. Something like "Thank you for coming in, I understand that you have a prescription and you'd like to order glasses. In order for our fitter to get them ordered, do you have your child with you to get some measurements? No? Ok, you're welcome to call to schedule an appointment or just come back with your child for us to be able to order the frames/lenses."Instead it was Id/insurance check. "Please have a seat and they'll call you." I prayed for more patience once...is this the test? Geeze.
