When I first entered Day Institute in Lake St. Louis, I could barely walk by myself. I had just left SSM Hospital after almost three weeks in a hospital bed caused by a nasty fall I had wherein I broke my right humerus. The fall and those weeks in the hospital bed robbed me of strength, balance, and coordination. I was very discouraged and didn’t think I would ever be back to my original self again. I am 84 years old and in generally good health and I worried that my age would prevent me from responding to treatment. After a stroke I was weak all along the left side of my body. My speech was impaired,my mobility was a problem and I couldn't use my left hand. In two short months I am able to walk, talk, and use my hands again. The therapists are so positive they never let you down. I recommend this facility to anyone who needs therapy after a stroke.
