Tl;dr Number one recommended gym in the area for personal training. I have been going here for personal training since July 2016. Over the last 8 years I have been to five gyms in the area, including this one, and have had a total of four personal trainers. I do not plan to increase those numbers at all. Ry, my trainer, is focused on setting realistic goals, acheiving them, and surpassing them. Simultaneously, he is always focused on safety. The training is definitely martial arts based. It is primarily boxing, but tends to float to anything practical in the realm of self-defense. Some workouts are more focused on mobility, or yoga. Ry is very great about keeping training purposed, but still enjoyable. I can not emphasize how perfect of a balance between safety, practicalism, and enjoyment I have experienced here. Ry is also great about shaping workouts to the individual trainee. While this could be assumed, it is done moreso than expected. On a day by day basis, he personalizes the work, even if it is a midworkout adjustment. He is realistic in pointing out strengths, weaknesses, and strategies to take advantage and to develop those, respectively. What has pushed me over the top in commitment is this: I recently injured my shoulder. I do not have a final diagnosis on what is wrong, but it is along the lines of a torn ligament in my shoulder. Just today, my trainer messaged me saying he had been researching my injury to figure out how to best aid in reovery. I am not saying he will take the place of a physical therapist. I am saying I have never had a trainer take time to individually research my issues and try to educate himself about what is going on. I have no experience with the children's self defense side of this gym, but I can not speak enough praises about the personal training I have received here. This is not a full fledged gym with rows of workout equipment. Simmons Family Martial Arts makes up for that in their knowledge and down-to-earth care of the individual.
