Based on the reviews, Mayo Clinic Health System - St. James has received mixed feedback. Some experiences describe serious concerns: a family member with a broken back was not given a brace and was left in excruciating pain. The patient got up in the night because an alarm was off, fell, and was found on the floor later in excruciating pain. Other reviews are very positive. One family brought a father to the emergency room for chest pains, and it turned out he was having a heart attack. The entire team moved fast, worked together seamlessly, and gave the patient the best care possible. They also comforted the family. Another patient has seen a doctor for 8 years and drives almost an hour to St. James because the care is amazing. A nurse and the phone staff were also praised. Additionally, one reviewer noted that Amanda Luna was very helpful in getting patient information.
I am very concerned as a family member went in for a broken back and they have not put any kind of brace on him! They let him lay in bed with excruciating pain any time he moves. He will never heal without his back being stabilized!!??
Now I found out he got up in the night and the alarm was off. No one knew he got up and he fell. He was found on the floor sometime later in excruciating pain. Why was his alarm turned off??? What kind of health care are you running there??????
We brought my dad in the emergency room last night for chest pains, and it turned out he was having a heart attack. The entire team moved so fast, worked together seamlessly, and truly gave my dad the best care possible. Not only did they take incredible medical care of him, but they also took care of us. They comforted me and my mom while we were an absolute wreck, and their kindness meant more than they’ll ever know. We are so grateful for every single person who stepped in to help. Thank you for your compassion, your quick action, and for giving my dad another chance.

Dr Eatwell- what can I say? AMAZING!!! His nurse Stacey- I will never have the full words to thank her for everything she does to help me. And Kelly you may not be his nurse anymore but you know what you did to for me when I was transitioning from my last doctor. I have seen him for 8 years and drive almost an hour to St James because of how amazing they are. I can never thank them enough- and a shout out to the ladies (and if ever gentleman) who answer the phones- you guys don’t get enough credit!!! Thank you!!
