After discovering that water stains on our ceilings—along with condensation and mold in the attic—were caused by poor ventilation and insulation, we learned that the best remedy was to remove all the soffit plywood and replace the fiberglass batt insulation with closed-cell spray foam.
Since our house has vaulted ceilings with no attic access, we had two options: either remove all the ceiling drywall from the inside, or remove the shingles and roof deck from the outside. We chose the exterior approach because we didn’t want a “hot roof,” and the interior option would have been extremely messy and surprisingly more expensive.
I was concerned about a potential mold problem in our new house, all my questions were answered so kindly and they really helped alleviate my anxiety around the potential issue. Highly recommended!!
