I can’t adequately express the thanks my wife and I have for Dr. Birch, the techs and the office staff at SMAEC for quickly addressing a difficult situation we found ourselves in with our 4-year old Bernese Mountain Dog, Lucy a week ago. The evening after some scheduled surgery at our regular vet she began hemorrhaging blood out of her incision site. The techs and Dr. Birch were honest with the situation we faced but ready to address it aggressively if we wanted. We did, and they did. We have been to South Metro a handful of times between 3 cats and I can't fully express enough, the level of care and detail involved every time. From a phone call, to front desk, to communication during/after visits, to follow- up, we have felt immense gratitude for this entire staff. Nobody ever wants to end up at the emergency vet with their cherished fur baby, but when you do, this is hands down, the most ideal place to be. Not only are they versed medically, but they help you as a pet owner, work through heightened emotions. Their job titles don't give them enough credit for everything they do. I will continue to go here when and if I need as well as recommend to… read full review

We brought my cat here after he was experiencing a urinary blockage. They rushed him back right away. After a while they said they wanted to keep him to make sure the blockage was gone, he was there about a day and a half. They were super understanding of my emotional distress and made sure we understood everything. Even while he was in their care they called us every shift change to let us in on what was going on with him. Everyone, especially Dr. O’connel, was super sweet and answered every possible question I had.
The only complaint I kinda have is that he needs to be on a special food now and they didn’t send us home with any so we went to 3 different pet stores… read full review
