I had such a pleasant experience in the paint dept at the Apple Valley Menards. Had a very nice young lady, Kristine (or Kristina)? help me. She was very knowledgeable & helpful!! She advised me on the right paint choice, matched the paint to my bedspread, showed me what to prep the walls with to hide marks that I could never get rid of last time I painted. Also she didnt try to sell me stuff I didnt need or the more expensive choices. Very nice young lady with a very cute accent. Don't ever get rid of her cuz I have alot of paint projects coming up! Thank you!

Don't go to Menards or Home Depot unless you have to.
Yes they're cheaper. They sell the thing and only the thing. At a local hardware store they will tell you the name of the thing and maybe an idea where you don't need to replace the thing but a part that can fix it. It costs $2-$5 more for a lot of things at a local hardware store. But what is $5 in exchange for the knowledge to only get what you need?
