About Gahagan Nature Preserve
Gahagan Nature Preserve is a beautiful and peaceful place, offering six hiking trails that vary in length between 1/4 and 3/4 miles, with one trail being ADA compliant. The trails are open year-round, and the preserve hosts various educational programs and activities throughout the year, such as a children's nature camp, storytime for pre-k ages, bird-banding demonstrations, an owl prowl, and tree I.D. hikes. The preserve features clean restrooms and offers a paved path as part of its trail system. It is a great place to learn about the natural world, and it is made possible thanks to a woman who donated the land and used the log cabin on the property for education after retiring from working in Detroit.
Good trip. I took a school group. We had a great guide and great learning experience. Wear bug spray!!!
Nice place for a walk in the forest
Amazing area, lots to walk around and to explore most of the path we walked on were clear enough I also love the option of off road and asphalt paths. We got to choose if we wanted to go off road with the stroller but it was a little bumpy lol 😂. Overall recommend this place. The maps were very helpful and it was marked really well on where the path was.
