I had cartilage replacement in my left knee 18 years ago and my knee is as strong as it's ever been. I'm a big guy 6'4 350lbs so my knees need to carry a big load. When I saw Dr Michaelson he was the third Dr I visited about my knee, the other two wanted to do micro fracture or knee replacement but he told me I was too young for those and that I would probably need to do a second surgery in the future. That's when he suggested the cartridge replacement. At the time it was still a pretty new cutting edge surgery with a lot longer recovery time then the other two surgeries but it was well worth it.
