We are beyond happy with Al Havner and Sons. Our floors are absolutely beautiful! We removed the carpets in our new home and the original 1950 hardwood floors were a mess (but had so much potential). Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything!
We had Al Havner and Sons Hardwood Floors strip, stain, and seal our red oak floors. We also had them supply and install roughly 250 linear feet of baseboard and shoe molding. They even trowel-filled the entire floor before staining it. Justin and his crew did an amazing job on our floors. They were clean, polite, and prompt. They are not just another floor sanding crew; these guys are craftsmen. They pay attention to details and the end product shows. I wouldn’t recommend anybody else!
My wife and I decided to have some work done to our home to include having the hardwood floors refinished. We wanted them sanded, stained, and 3 coats of poly for extra protection. I did my due diligence and had multiple companies come out for estimates. I hired a different company than Al Havner and Sons, which I will not name, to do the work and I cannot express to you how poor a job they did and how badly them messed up our floors. In the end, we asked the owner of that company to fix our floors and he said he would rather take the loss and walk away. He did just that and left us hanging with and empty house and really messed up floors. That started an internet search for a company to fix our floors. I called multiple companies and was told the same thing “We are so busy right now, our schedule is full for the next 4 to 6 weeks” or “ We are so busy I can’t even consider your job”. Finally, I made the call to Al Havner and Sons and spoke with Justin. Justin was honest with us, stating they too were busy but he could come out immediately and let us know if the floors could be repaired or would need to be replaced. The good news was, after seeing the floors, Justin felt the floors could be repaired. Justin spent over an hour going over everything done wrong by the first company and how to repair the floors. I was so impressed I asked him to pencil us in for his first available appointment and let us know if he had a cancellation so we could move it up. Lucky for us, there was an opening on his schedule and we only ended up waiting about 9 days, not 4 to 6 weeks. After getting burned by the first company, we had a lot of questions and were very cautious. We were quickly put at ease, when on the start date, Justin and his crew arrived on time, went right to work, and were very professional. It took Justin and his crew three days of sanding to fix the mistakes of the first company. Over the next couple of days, Justin stained the floor and applied the poly. After the first company, there was dust everywhere and it took us 4 days to clean up. Even after we finished cleaning, if the floors had been done well, we couldn’t have moved back in because the poly smell was still too strong. We had none of these issues with Justin. He used a dust collection system and a poly with a lower VOC. The smell was almost undetectable after a few days. Justin wasn’t trying to rush to get the job done, he was taking his time to do it right. When the floors were finished, they looked a zillion times better, and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking to have your floors refinished, do yourself a favor and consider Al Havner and Sons.
