About Munson Medical Center

Munson Medical Center (MMC) is a 442-bed nonprofit hospital known for delivering top-quality healthcare in northern Michigan. As the largest hospital in the Munson Healthcare system, it serves as a regional referral center and is nationally recognized for its superior quality care. MMC features an award-winning heart program, a Level II Trauma Center, and the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in northern Michigan. It is also designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. While many patients report positive experiences with the compassionate and professional staff in the Emergency Room and various units, some concerns have been raised about the ER triage intake process. Specifically, the lack of privacy during intake has been criticized, as personal health information is shared in a public setting. Despite this issue, patients have praised the kindness and efficiency of the ER staff, as well as the exceptional care received during surgeries and treatments. Overall, Munson Medical Center is recommended for those seeking high-quality medical care and support in a compassionate environment.

I am not pleased on the ER triage intake process. This is done in the entry way in front of anyone and everyone. I asked why it is done there and not more private and the response was, if you would like to donate 50 million dollars to rebuild our department. What?
Then I was told by another staff member it is because they are very busy and if someone is have a hard time they can tell by taking their vitals sooner. ( To sum it up). My concern is HIPPA. The questions they ask to why a person is needed to be seen and the person may have to give health history also. How embearassing to give out your personal information out in front of by standers. This process should...read full review

As former residents of Cadillac around 2012 my wife suffered a stroke however the CatScan machine was down at the time so they rerouted her to Munson. Upon arrival she was seen by a Female Neurologist who diagnosed her as having a migraine headache. It just so happens that the Neurologist has written papers on this subject and may have been a bit biased. If she was given the clot busting drug she may not still be suffering with Aphasia. While on the cardiac ward she was seen the next morning by the partner of the Neurologist who couldn't believe she was misdiagnosed as it was obvious to him. It doesn't stop there, the nursing staff when giving her IV medicine to reduce the swelling in her brain as well as take the pain away had inserted the needle subcutaneous. As a result all the medicine was going into my wife's shoulder instead of the bloodstream. Again you don't have much choice when your in a situation like this, I just hope others are not misdiagnosed. It has been a long road getting back to where she is today, but her short term memory as well as the ability to hold a normal conversation is gone.

I have been admitted to MMC for sepsis and my daughter was admitted to the NICU. Both times we entered through the ER. The ER staff were kind, friendly and professional. The team in the OR with Dr. Zuckerman were super friendly and compassionate. The various nurses and CNAs in the B3 Surgical Unit were all very kind and compassionate as well. The NICU nurses ans doctor are wonderful caring angels and incredibly supportive. I would recommend going to MMC to anyone who wishes to be treated with a high level of care and compassion.
