When we discovered Avalon Cottage, at historic Portage Point, the 100 year old kit-cottage had seen better days. We are big fans of Arts and Crafts architecture, the elements and charm of the style were still evident, if a bit run down. What we wanted was, first and foremost, to restore and preserve—to honor the heritage of Avalon. But we also wanted a functional, cozy getaway, with all of the modern amenities.
