“I invited Mike Bancroft to come out and examine my old hand-dug well with a poor fitting cap and a jumble of rocks around it. It was also missing its cover. I explained that my goal was to restore it back to its original design and preserve a piece of Maine. Mike was both knowledgeable and friendly and after examine the well told me that he could fix it. He photo documented the well and told me when he thought he would get to it.
As my turn came, Mike's son, Casey, came out to start repairs. He had already been briefed and had seen the photos. I reiterated my desire to Casey and he was careful to include me in any decisions. He removed the well cap, straightened out the walls and reset the cap. He also made me a new cover by splitting one of the unused stones around the well. It came out beautifully. Casey finished up by applying grass seed which he covered in hay.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I love the way my well came out.”
