If I could give Arthur “Butch” Davis of Midcoast Wildlife Specialists 10 stars, I absolutely would. A gray squirrel was trapped in my chimney for at least a week, unable to climb out because of the slippery lining. By the time I reached Butch, I was frantic. He happened to be working in Portland, called me back immediately, and came right over. From the moment he arrived, he was exceptional. He assessed the situation from the roof, quickly located the squirrel, and tried coaxing it up with a rope. When it became clear the exhausted animal couldn’t climb, he evaluated the fireplace flue and safely rescued it.
Butch handled everything with calm, skill, and genuine compassion. He quite literally saved the squirrel’s life. He is exactly the kind of person you hope to find in an emergency: humane, knowledgeable, steady, and kind. I am deeply grateful and wholeheartedly recommend Midcoast Wildlife Specialists.
