Years ago, we stopped at Cabinet Discounters in Gaithersburg to get some ideas for a kitchen remodel we were dreaming about. I don't know the name of the middle-aged woman who was in the showroom, but the moment we told her we weren't ready to start a remodel, but we were browsing, she lost all interest in us. The details are murky, but she was so unpleasant that we never went back to that business - UNTIL this past month. This time, we were towards the end stages of our remodel with a different contractor, which was a horrible experience in so many ways. We didn't believe they were being honest with us about many of our questions and concerns about our cabinets - for starters. We went to Cabinet Discounters to see, feel and learn about how a quality lazy Susan should feel when it spins, because ours didn't roll easily at all, so we wanted to test out all the ones in the showroom. When we walked into the showroom, we were greeted by Marie Gifnilliat (I hope I spelled her name correctly). We told her up front that we were already most of the way through our renovation, but we wanted to learn more about the quality of our cabinets, especially our lazy Susan. She gave us at least 30 minutes of her time and attention, showed us samples of "our brand" of cabinets in great detail, teaching us what gives cabinets more (or less) quality. She took us around the showroom, answered all our questions, educated us, and made some suggestions she thought might help, including the quality of the sink we got, which seems to be as low as our cabinets. Our greatest regret had been our choice of contractor, but once we saw how knowledgeable, honest and helpful Marie was, and how she was so generous with her time and energy, we were beating ourselves up that we didn't start with her and Cabinet Discounters. If anyone is considering remodeling a kitchen or bath, do yourself a HUGE favor: go to Cabinet Discounters in Gaithersburg, and ask for Marie. I am in the process of a kitchen remodel and I chose Cabinet Discounters. Jenny is my designer and she did a fantastic job of helping me choose the cabinets & countertops and coming up with a beautiful design that will really improve my tiny kitchen. I am so excited about this project! I will post pictures when it’s finished.
