May dad passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer. I chose McComas in Abingdon after my aunt’s funeral in March. The celebrant told such a wonderful life story that I knew that’s what I wanted to celebrate my dad. We went to McComas with expectations of my mom needing my dad to look like himself and I wanted a celebrant that was kind, caring and could share his story. Our family expectations were exceeded in every way. McComas staff were caring and met all of our needs. Losing my brother, was one of the most painful experiences of our lives, but the team at McComas Family Funeral Home helped carry us through it with such grace, compassion, and genuine care. From the moment we arrived, they treated our family as if we were their own. Every detail from the preparation to the service on August 28, 2025 and the mass service on August 29, 2025 was handled with tenderness, patience, and respect.

On July 10th, 2025 was the most devastating and heartbreaking day I ever had-- My Dad passed away that night at 5:06pm at a local rehabilitation facility. They asked me to chose a funeral home for where my Dad would be transfered too, I went with McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon and it was the best choice I made. After we called them they said we can have about 3-4 hours to be with him & say goodbye and have family come and all. There were 2 staff members that went there to transport my Dad to the funeral home- Jeff & Chris.
