“I know why they're booked so far in advance now. I mean yes, only dentist in a 20 minute radius is something, but he's good at what he does! I've been fighting with one tooth for almost a year now and on Wednesday when a cucumber slice set it off for 3 or 4 minutes and then feeling around on it with my tongue did it a second time, I called in and they got me in the next day. I know most dentists do that but it's still highly appreciated.
Anyway, they did the X-ray and nerve test and everything. He came and explained things to me and showed me X-ray and what he's looking at and what he's thinking, pulled out pen and paper and his art skills and showed me. I came away with a lot of information but better understanding about things. He finished up by grinding down the tooth a bit to reduce the constant contact and even explained the colors of the strip you bite down on. Turns out there was a very heavy spot. When all said and done he laid out the plan, if the pain just goes away and gets better, great but may need a root canal in a few months. If the pain doesn't go away he prescribed some meds in case if abcess and even pain killers.
Well, it's the day after the appointment now and the soreness I had yesterday that was just lingering from the double spike the day before is just about gone entirely and those stretch yawn combos you do in the morning when waking up, I always end up having my mouth close tighter and tense up and always felt it on that tooth, but not this morning!
Last time I got the bite adjusted on it I came home and it was more sensitive than before and I regretted getting the adjustment. I was scared about that again but I'll tell you what, I feel more hope about this tooth than I have in months and even if I do need to do root canal later, if I get a couple good months of use out of it after almost a year of anywhere from being gentle with it to completely avoiding it for fear of blinding pain, I'll be happy!”
