“Sensei Paul Belle Isle is a fantastic and knowledgeable karate instructor. I’ve been attending classes here for about a year and a half and only have positive things to say about the class and all associated with it.“

“I have two children currently enrolled at the Jae H. Kim Taekwon-do Institute in Ashland. My 14-year-old son has been taking classes for more than six years and is a 2nd Dan Black Belt, while my eight-year-old daughter just started attending classes about six months ago. The program at Jae H. Kim offers great benefits to both of them! First, the instruction at the school is topnotch. After years of classes, my son continues to learn new and improve existing techniques while remaining engaged and motivated in the process. There are also meaningful leadership opportunities for older students, such as being on the school’s demonstration team and helping to teach lower belts. Meanwhile, Ms. Shim and the other instructors use a teaching style that is consistently clear, positive, and firm, which is particularly effective with younger students. The school in Ashland offers additional perks as well, such as a very flexible class schedule and regular community-building events for students and their families. Both my children and I are extremely satisfied with Jae H. Kim and highly recommend their program!“

“I trained with Shihan Cormier for years, during some of the most formative of my life. His impact on me as a person and martial artist cannot be understated. Though I no longer practice Goju Ryu, everywhere I went the skills and lessons I gained from Bu Ke Do Goju Ryu Karate have played a part in both training and life.“

“Eric Rossini, the owner, was very gracious in giving his time to a local boy scout troop to explain the challenges and rewards of starting and running a business. He is an effective communicator and clearly has a passion for doing well for his customers.“

I can not articulate what a wonderful staff they have here. They are definitely putting 110% into each class and very professional. The classes are so fun and it's an excellent workout for kids. The studio has such a welcoming vibe, is very organized, and clean! We love their flexible schedule. I'm very happy that I chose this studio for my son. “My experience at TMI Self Defense was wonderful. I was anxious to join the class with no martial arts experience and felt welcomed, supported and comfortable within a few classes. The instructor, Ron, adjusts the techniques to meet my physical limitations. He also takes the time to put what he is teaching you into a real-life situation to stress the how and the why it's important to do it properly. Great studio, amazing instructor, wonderful classmates of all ages, and a martial arts class that can benefit your confidence, physical and mental strength!“

“Master Souza is not a bad teacher, not a bad person either. I see a lot of anti Souza in the reviews, and I dont think its necessarily deserved. Hes a good guy, hes just different. It sounds like It would be a great thing to have the greatest teacher ever's teacher teach you, but it's not the same. There were a lot of changes made to the school and what we were learning after Mr. Wallace left, not a lot of them welcome, and some of them very unwelcome, but I dont feel as though the heart of the school has changed at all. It's just one minute you were learning mostly taekwondo with a little bit of boxing and a tiny bit of jujitsu, and the teacher was kind, funny, down to earth, and relatable. Now it feels like we are doing just as much boxing as we are kicking, most aspects of traditional taekwondo went straight out the window (forms, one-steps, certain blocks and strikes, etc), and the teacher feels a bit more far removed from the class. I feel like we as students connected to Mr. Wallace more because he was still a student in many aspects. He was extremely wize for his age, he was skilled and physically able, but he was young enough where us as students could have shared interests and experiences with him, the connection with Mr. Wallace was deep, and compelled me to keep persuing martial arts, and I dont think I'm the only one. As of now the only thing that is keeping me in Franklin Martial Arts is the friends that are still there from the "Mr. Wallace Era", but I DO NOT think that FMA is a bad school. They are honest, well trained, and good teachers. You really get an amazing value for your money, it's not what a lot of martial artists would call a "belt factory", you have to earn your rank, and you have to keep progressing to keep it. FMA is good to learn self defense, self offense, self control, self discipline, respect for yourself and others, and just useful life skills, for young kids or older adults, I highly recommend this school.“
