After looking at several timber frame builders in the northeast United States, we engaged Hardwick Post and Beam because the quality of their work was so above and beyond all of the competitors. While they are slightly more expensive than other options, we felt the money was well invested as the end result is just beautiful to look at, and better constructed. All of the posts and beams are pegged, the braces have beautiful curved chamfers. The roof joists are arched where they meet the main beam. Many of the competitors have lapped joints that didn't really seem to fit well. Hardwick is also responsible for the design. We had a lot of ideas of our own, and they were so wonderful and patient as we spent months revising and reworking to finally arrive at the house that we were dreaming of. I am especially grateful for the help, expertise and patience of Newell Shinn and architect Bob Sleboda. Hardwicks job stops at the framing. They work with Foard Panels who manufactured the insulated panels for the walls and roof. They recommended a contractor that they had done lots of work with for the rest of the job. Timber frame houses are more expensive to build than conventionally framed houses, but they are works of art. Hardwick's houses are the cream of the crop.
