Finding Dr. Steve and his wonderful staff has been a God send for me! After a severe disc herniation injury came out of nowhere he truly connected with my pain and lifestyle impairment. He took the time to carefully evaluate my condition and treated so gently at each visit. Most importantly he always takes the time to give detailed explanations of his thoughts and a sincere desire to truly help get you better. 5 weeks later I feel on the mend and Community Chiropractic Groton has a patient for life!
Never seen a chiropractor before, not sure what to expect. Based on youtube videos, I thought there would be lots of cracking. Not really very much cracking, just an occasional crack. Dr Steve is very down-to-earth and approachable, and prides his practice on being gentle. I wasn't worried about gentle, I just wanted results. When I told him I used to have people walk on my back to get it to crack, he was aghast - he said please don't do that anymore, those people don't know what they're doing. His adjustments are firm but not forceful. After the first session, I noticed an immediate change, in that I could turn my head while driving to look back for merging traffic, when for years I'd been forced to tilt it down to look back - it was a total surprise, not something I was looking for! The office setting is restful, comfortable, and relaxing. And they make it clear that they don't want patients to get stressed about getting to appointments on time, they'd rather you call to let them know if you're going to be late, rather than rushing to get there and arriving all stressed out. I've been on a once-a-week schedule (5 appointments so far), and while I haven't seen as remarkable a change as I saw after the first one, I think I'm still getting some improvement. Haven't talked about how long to expect treatment to continue, but I feel confident that I can bring up the subject with Dr Steve and get meaningful, sensible, answers. They offer periodic mailings and group discussion sessions about how to get the most out of sessions and maintain health on your own. Haven't gone to a group session yet, so I can't comment on that. I'll have to wait and see how helpful they might be, but overall I'm glad I started seeing Dr Steve after years of pain and stiffness.
