“I moved back to Dorchester in 2023 and was searching for a barber who could flatteringly frame the face of a woman with a low cut. In full transparency, I was looking for a Black barber who knows my type of hair. I walked into Namel's after trying several Dominican barbers who left me with bumps after each cut and unflattering hard-lined cuts that made me feel masculine. I shared my concerns with Nick, was reassured and got my cut and loved it! :)

I've been coming here for the past 6 months and have not been disappointed. Nick's skills, cleanliness, longevity in the industry, availability (he works 7 days a week!) and consistency is why I encourage you to stop in and give him a shot! You won't regret it. He has over 25 years of experience and though he specializes in women's cuts, however he is not at all limited to just that. I've seen him cut children's hair, men's hair and beards and is very personable and friendly.“

“The all the men totally friendly. But unfortunately ? for me there was a woman who does braiding and she is the 1st person at the 1st station as you walk into the shop. I didn't get service, financee got shave and hair cut from Ansel a mutual friend from when we were teenagers. The four stars are for the men. The lady should have greeted me because I'm a woman upon entering because she does hair, said hello ? ☺ may I help you. Because she said nothing I bypass her and went to last chair to speak with mature man and asked if there was another female stylist and he said no. I then asked about barber my financee was getting his hair cut by because he was not in the shop. He came out spoke I sat and waited on my financee to come get his hair cut. Later 2 additional ladies came in and one with little boy got his hair cut by another barber and then another lady came in and she spoke to both ladies and mind you was friendly. The only thing semi decent I could say about woman was she hand a stand never saw was able to put strands of hair on it for individual pieces to do single braids which was neat. After my financee got his hair done he suggested I ask her to braid my hair, I told him she didn't speak and wasn't friendly and women of colored don't let folks mess in there head because your hair don't grow and you don't need bad energy in your hair. I told him I'll look elsewhere.

Stylist: Wouldn't recommend any woman to go to that shop you want to deal with pleasant woman stylist and she certainly didn't speak to me or even ask if I need help. She'd certainly would get a zero.“
