My daughter and her family were evacuated by helicopter from Denham Springs during the flood in 2016. Unfortunately the shelter was unable to house their little dog. I managed to get to the shelter and was stranded for several days due to continued flooding. To avoid trying to find a temporary shelter for their dog I decided to keep her with me in my car. We managed to endure the heat by occasionally running the ac in my car and parking under trees. We had plenty of food and water. The shelter volunteers were constantly checking on us.
