Louisiana Citizens is described as a good insurance company that is very knowledgeable and helpful. It is often the only insurer available for many people, including those with mobile homes or who have difficulty getting coverage elsewhere due to factors like credit scores. Customers appreciate that it helps them meet mortgage requirements. However, some express frustration with aspects like weekend phone service and online bill payment. There are also mixed experiences with claims payouts after hurricanes, with some feeling the funds were adequate and others stating they were insufficient. Additionally, some note that premiums can be raised after an initial inspection.
RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! They charged me over 3k and canceled the policy a month later supposedly because of our trampoline. The worst part is they only refunded $600. Never gave me the option to disassemble the trampoline, gave very short notice of the cancellation, and stole over $2000 of hard earned money that was anything but easy to come by. As it turns out they do this to a lot of people. This is an absolute shame and I will be getting an attorney.
For the love of God stay FAR, FAR away from these people if at all possible. They sent out a renewal notice to my mortgage carrier without my consent (This policy was in the process of being cancelled, THANK GOD). Mortgage company shorted my escrow account significantly by sending the payment. LA Citizens apparently takes 30 DAYS to PROCESS a cancellation. At that point it takes another 7-14 business days to actually RECEIVE the refund from them. If that isn't bad enough, don't bother wasting your time trying to contact them with questions because IF you make it through the terrible automated wait system, they can't give you simple information such as the refund amount...read full review
Want to give them -15 stars if I can. Let's c I got ur owners insurance and come to find out you use people's home ages against them in a policy. 2nd I had my agent write in notes u to call before coming out since it was my first time getting homeowners u didn't and u trespassed in my property. Third u give blue book value to people homes. That's not write!!! I will be posting on every social media I can telling people how u run your business. I will call dept if insurance in Louisiana. I will be cancelling my policy. I will get a portion going to stop your unethical practices in insurance people need to know u aren't there last resort and not to get u as insurance!...read full review
