I am a licensed plumber who was contracted for a HUD-funded bathroom renovation in Ocean Springs, MS, where Heather Laughlin was the HUD consultant assigned to the project.

All plumbing work was completed properly and on schedule. Despite this, Ms. Laughlin refused to process or “push” the required paperwork, directly preventing the contractor from being paid.

Because of her inaction, payment was delayed through the entire holiday season, causing significant financial hardship to my family. This delay was completely avoidable and had nothing to do with workmanship or compliance.

I purchased my first home in 2021 and I didn’t have much knowledge. I trusted Heather Laughlin to have her husband do repairs on my home that they were paid $30k upfront at closing for. She promised things that were never delivered… It took months to get the smallest of things done and ultimately her husband kept the rest of the money and I was never comfortable with him coming to my home after the lies and mistrust. I asked to have a different contractor complete the work. That they return the money and she said it couldn’t be done.

If it’s your first time purchasing, just do your homework. Don’t trust just anyone.
