I took lessons with Jack decades ago one summer when I was in high school. I was a total newbie, and he was patient and kind while I plodded through Wipe Out and Smoke on the Water. He showed me all sorts of stuff he knew how to play and different techniques that he used on the songs he’d performed over the years.
I wasn’t a serious guitar student, but he taught me some good stuff, I walked away enjoying playing guitar even if it wasn’t something I was going to keep doing, and I can still play Wipe Out.
Took lessons from Jack many years ago and still play many of those licks and songs he taught me on the guitar I bought from him. The time I spent learning from Jack was not only informative but fun. He has a great deal of talent to share.
Jack Martin is a part of bluegrass history, having played the dobro with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. I went to Mr. Martin for some banjo supplies and a couple of lessons, and the guy could not have been nicer, or more patient with me (I'm a total amateur). He really made the experience fun. I highly recommend him.
