We recently decided to replace our back patio and deck. As the patio was larger, we need to upgrade our drainage. This included an additional drainpipe in the concrete to carry the water away from the house. We also chose to install an “over the joist” DEK drain system on the elevated deck to create a dry space under the deck. Finally, our existing gutters were too small to accommodate the heavy rains we seem to be experiencing more frequently. The contractor doing the concrete work suggested we contact Corey Burns at Burns Home Improvements for the gutter work. To make the deck drain gutters less obtrusive, we decided to have the water flow toward the house – an unusual configuration. After discussion with Corey about the deck drain configuration and concerns regarding the transition from the gutter under the deck to the ceiling/soffit panels under the deck, he suggested a custom-built box drain. Corey was able to fabricate a box drain that (a) would easily manage the water off the deck drain system, (b) allow the installation of a ceiling under the deck with an aesthetically pleasing transition, (c) and protect the aluminum box from the treated joists. Corey and his crew were also able to remove the existing four-inch gutters and replace them with six-inch gutters with Gutter RX guards. Here again, an unusual configuration was employed in the back to avoid having the down spouts penetrate the rubber-membrane deck drain system. Corey was creative in addressing our needs. He and his crew were prompt, organized and neat. We have no hesitation in recommending Burns Home Improvements.

He has an outstanding crew. They arrived when they said they would be here and worked through the rain to complete their task. Good all around group of guys.
