About Harsha Behavioral Center
Harsha Behavioral Center, established in August 2008, is a freestanding acute care hospital that offers 81 beds for inpatient services, specifically designed for individuals in need of 24-hour intensive psychiatric care. The center serves a diverse range of patients, including children ages 3-12, adolescents age 13-17, adults age 18-54, and geriatrics age 55 and older. The average length of stay at the facility ranges from 7 to 14 days. Reviews of Harsha Behavioral Center present a mixed perspective on the quality of care and support provided. Many patients acknowledge the staff's dedication and compassion, highlighting specific individuals who show genuine concern for their mental health. Several reviewers appreciate the kindness and support from various staff members, suggesting that the center can be a good option for children needing mental health services. However, there are significant criticisms regarding the overall structure and effectiveness of treatment. One reviewer noted that the approach to group therapy is flawed, as patients are segregated by age rather than their specific struggles and needs. This arrangement can hinder effective learning and healing, as individuals with vastly different experiences and challenges are grouped together. Concerns about the repetitive nature of the therapy sessions were raised, with some staff appearing burnt out and unable to provide the personalized attention that patients require. Another significant issue mentioned is the management of medications. Several patients reported not receiving their required medications at the appropriate times, which can lead to dangerous consequences for those who rely on specific treatments. There is a call for improved communication with primary care doctors and a need for a more effective medication management system within the hospital. Furthermore, some reviews express dissatisfaction with the length of stay and the lack of clear information regarding the admission process, patient rights, and discharge planning. The experience of being moved between rooms added to the discomfort for some patients, contributing to the feeling of instability within the treatment environment. Overall, while Harsha Behavioral Center is praised for its caring staff and the potential to provide support for mental health, there are critical areas needing improvement to enhance the therapeutic experience for all patients. The combination of dedicated staff and the need for better organization and personalized care highlights the challenges faced by the center in delivering optimal mental health services.
I spent five days in the adult unit at Harsha. I have never previously been admitted involuntarily or otherwise to a hospital setting but I have been to another mental health treatment program and the differences are drastic. I want to first say that the staff, especially the techs and the therapists are mostly amazing. The staff here simply are not given the tools or freedom to really help people.
Groups are supposed to be a time where everyone collectively comes together to learn coping skills and discuss their fears, questions and find guidance. Unfortunately patients are segregated by age and not their individual struggles, learning capabilites or even what...read full review
personally I hated this place and cried myself to sleep literally every night? definitely don’t recommend but if you seriously need help then I’m not saying this is the place to go but it helps you some what especially a few of the staffs. Hailey, Leeane? , and Austin are great there, I really liked talking to Hailey she helped me through most of the time I was there, but over all I don’t recommend going to harsha so if you were like me and felt like hurting yourself.. DONT you will end up here or somewhere worse.
