I had a railing installed on winding steps from the basement walkout down to the dock, about a 20-ft drop. The railing was about 55 feet long. The 2 installers who did the work made sure that the continuous railing was at the proper height as it curved and lowered from the top of the hill to the bottom. The railing looks great. The installed did a great job.
