I gave 4 stars because communication fell short once my trailer was finished. On Tuesday, 12/09, I received a call from Base Camp Provisions in San Antonio—300 miles away—informing me that my trailer had arrived. This was the first I’d heard of it being shipped. With prior scheduling conflicts, the only option was to make the round trip on Wednesday, 12/10: 12 hours of driving, 600 miles in one day.
That said, the trailer itself is absolutely beautiful, and I’m 100% happy with the quality of my purchase. Still, when paying $1,450 for delivery, I would expect clear communication about the shipping status. A simple update would have saved a lot of frustration.
I have been talking with Hiker Trailer on and off about over 6 months on a custom build. Many times starting over from scratch, asking the same questions over and over and changing my mind more then once. Through out the whole time they have been more than pleasant, they have been excited to show/tell me about all the various ways to customize my build. They are not in it just for the money, more than once they have told me that I didn't need X thing because I could get a cheaper one else where. Or that I wouldn't need it because of Y. Our experience with Hiker Trailers has been great! The people that make up this company are phenomenal to deal with and we are happy to purchase their product. This was a large purchase for us and we had plenty of questions throughout the buying process, especially about putting our tent on top of the trailer. Quinton and Josh are full of knowledge and helped us tremendously. They even went way above and beyond to help us move our tent from our Tacoma to the top of the Hiker Trailer in their shop during pick-up!We camped in the trailer for a week on our way home to VT and we loved it!
