Pediatric Associates of Avon offers great practice with amazing and knowledgeable physicians. The office provides same day illness visits and is open on Saturdays. The process is simple, with detailed appointment information and confirmation calls. While parents can choose a doctor from the team, experiences with specific pediatricians can vary. Some patients feel very comfortable and at ease, while others find the support and specific answers to questions challenging. The on-call doctor typically calls back within minutes.
Have taken all three of my kids here since they were born (over 6 years ago) and have never had an issue! Staff is always very friendly, doctors always listen and offer plenty of options. Dr. Shmalo is their main provider and he never rushes the visit and makes the kids feel comfortable. I don't recall ever receiving a bill for their annual well-checks or sick visits but I also confirm that they are in-network if our insurance changes. That is the parents responsibility, not the office staff. I would choose this office 10x over and think you should too!
My kids see Dr. Cosgrove and Gill and I like both of them very much. I feel very comfortable with both. We've also seen the other two doctors for illnesses and feel like we could see any of the doctors in the practice. Cosgrove is great with my boys- they feel very at ease with him. Dr. Gill sees my daughter and she is very sweet knowledgeable. I love that they do same day illness visits and are open on Saturdays so I don't have to go to urgent care!!!
Their process of transferring pediatricians was simple and easy. They do answer well over the phone and give you detailed appointment information. They also call you ahead of time to confirm your appointment. The challenging part was the pediatric doctor that oversaw our kid. We, as parents were allowed to choose our own doctor from the team of doctors they have. However, our choice turned out to be challenging. There was little support when we needed more for our kid. There was no improvement with the recommendations or prescribed options. The more we asked specific questions, the more we got general or google-able answers. Also, doctors these days think we patients Google about everything before we go check up. That's not really true. Not all Google answers work. If they do, then we wouldn't need doctor's attention.
