After years of struggling with various medical issues related to joint and muscle pain, I finally decided to take a trip west of our border to Chicago to get unbiased advice. Every doctor I went to in Toronto (and that’s a lot) wanted to prescribe medication, do surgery or set me up with physical therapy. Being a very athletic youth, I suffered multiple injuries and bounced back from them all. Now, in middle age, my body is not doing to great. Well, I’m not one to give in to the adage of “ well.... you are getting older “ syndrome. I refused to accept these old practices. Thankfully, I was directed to Dr. Perry Cammisa at Ultimate Medical Group in Naperville, Illinois. I brought all my reports and images so he could take a look and read the reports I had been given. Using just my right ankle as an example of the many joints with injury, the doctors in Toronto had told me nothing was wrong and there was no damage. Yet, my ankle continued to go out making walking impossible until it slid back into place. Dr. Cammisa and Dr. Irizarry did an ultrasound on the spot and clearly showed me on the screen the damage done to my ligament. My suspicions had been confirmed. The Toronto doctor in his haste had missed the obvious. I am now in the process of making arrangements for stem cell therapy in the hopes of regenerating cartilage and returning the ankle to its best state possible without surgery or more pills. Dr. Cammisa also took neck Xrays which showed I had lost the curve in my neck. He gave me a neck device to use which in time should reverse this issue as well. What I got accomplished there in an hour would have taken me multiple doctor visits and X-ray and ultrasounds in Toronto; lots of wasted time and little results at home, not to mention the frustration. I just wish I knew earlier and wish he was in Toronto so others could benefit from the team at Ultimate Medical. Take the drive to Naperville if you're tired of excuses. You won’t regret it!
