The Mecca Center is a welcoming mosque and community center that attracts youth and families with its various activities. It has grown into the largest Islamic center in Chicago, maintaining its beauty and lovely facilities while striving for continuous improvement. The architecture of the masjid is beautiful, and visitors can enjoy praying Zohar prayer in this stunning space. The center is led by Sheikh Ahmed Arafat, who connects with people of all ages and backgrounds. His understanding of Islamic history and talent for making complex concepts accessible have helped the community better understand Islam. Sheikh Ahmed Arafat's sermons are enlightening and inspiring, filled with wisdom and practical advice that resonates with the community. The Mecca Center is highly recommended as a masjid to pray and practice Islam. It is a blessing to have such a beautiful and welcoming Islamic center in the community. The center is very active in fundraising and maintaining its programs, which are supportive and helpful, especially for reverts. Under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmed Arafat, the center continues to thrive and positively impacts the community and its members.
I love this beautiful mosque, and I also love how they fixed the parking situation. The security here was upgraded and the parking is so much better now. I am so happy and hope this mosque continues to stay great!
My only complaint was that the staff can sometimes be unfriendly, which I understand they are busy and can get frustrated, but I think that it would add to the charm if they were just a bit more friendly even when they are stressed out.❤
The Mecca Center is truly a blessing for our community. The dedication of the imams, shuyukh, staff, and volunteers is evident in everything they do. They have created an environment where people of all ages can strengthen their connection with Allah and feel welcomed.
Shaykh Arafat’s Fajr and Isha khatiras are especially impactful. They provide meaningful reminders that help strengthen one’s relationship with Allah. His lectures on marriage and parenting are thoughtful, practical, and filled with advice that can genuinely benefit Muslim families.

The Children’s Suhbah Program at the Mecca Center has been such a blessing for our family. Even though we live in Indiana, we happily made the drive to Illinois because of how much my son loved attending. Every week he looked forward to going, especially for the khatera sessions.
One of the highlights for him was Sheikh Ahmed. He connected with the children in such a meaningful way, making them feel welcomed, engaged, and excited to learn about their faith. My son would come home talking about what he learned and counting down the days until the next session.
