“After years of consideration I decided to have breast explant surgery. At my initial consult when I asked if my medical insurance would cover anything. Dr. Lu told me that if my initial surgery was for cosmetic purposes, then this surgery is considered the same. His office would supply all documentation and help for me to submit to my insurance to file a claim afterwards. I decided to go ahead. I had double explant with capsulectomies surgery for my 35 year old breast implants on Dec. 4, 2025 with Dr. Lu. He found both were previously ruptured. All went well. Dr. Lu and staff were supportive and knowledgeable. However, I've since had very little help from RL Plastic Surgery to try to get some reimbursement from Aetna insurance. The main reason is that RL will not code my procedure because its cosmetic (despite ruptures) and insurance will not pay without a code. Be prepared to pay for EVERYTHING if its deemed cosmetic.“
