The service was great. This barber shop is by appointment only but I walked in not knowing this rule yet Mike had a little bit of time between his next appointment so he took me in for a cut. He was able to fix the botched up job done by the previous "hair place" that cut my hair. The hair cut was one of the best I have had in decades. All uniform and cut to the right length. The place is clean! I will make this my new barber shop.
I don't understand the two poor reviews - Mike's been cutting my hair for over 30 years - it's always perfect. He's by far the best barber I've ever used. He was trained for several years in Italy before being allowed to call himself a "barber" and he's forgotten more about cutting men's hair than most U.S. - trained barbers, beauticians, stylists, etc. will ever know. He's very professional, friendly and extremely reasonably priced considering the quality and attention to detail he provides. I live and work in the downtown and near-north Chicago areas and travel all the way to Oak Lawn, where I grew up, to see Mike every five weeks. I constantly receive complements and inquires as to who cuts my hair from people paying three and four times more for downtown, near-north and Gold Coast "stylists." Would give him 10 stars if possible. Highly recommended.
Mike’s Barber Shop is the gentlemen’s barber shop where you go to get caught up on the latest neighborhood news, a good cup of coffee, and the best haircut on the Southside. Mike has an eye for perfection and a steady hand; a real professional and a pillar of the community.If you’re looking to walk-in for a cheap fade, this is not the shop for you.
