I had my second Cornea transplant Monday July 9. This Thursday my vision has made a major change in the last 24 hours. Woo Hoo, I'm so happy. You will not be disappointedexcited. Vision is already better than before the surgery. I must thank the Cornea Specialist Dr. Sean Edelstein for his excellent work. I'm typing this message with my old eye glasses and I can see. I tried calling them three different times in one day, and each time I was trapped in their phone system for over 30 minutes on hold and no one would come to the phone. The system finally gave me the option to leave a message which I did on two of the phone calls. It has been over 24 hours and no one has returned my call. So I called back today. This time I clicked on making an appointment instead of speaking to the office staff. And surprise, they answered right away. And when I told the woman that I wanted to cancel my appointment because they never answered their phone, she got extremely rude and said " fine I will cancel your appointment, goodbye". And then she hung up on me. I would not trust my eyes to someone who runs their office so rudely and incompetently. I had my own business for over 40 years, and I cannot ever imagine treating my customers with such disrespect. I will be going to Washington University and having my eye surgery done by a competent physician that has a competent staff.

I had no real problems with the actual care. The problem is the billing and the presentation of charges. Very confusing and not accurate. Was given an approximate cost for a procedure. Paid approximately that cost. No problem. Next visit I was told I owed $1,200.00 more for the office side. My payments were for the surgery side. Never was this included in the discussions at the time of visits or scheduling. How the hell do I know they are separate unless I am told ahead of time. The simple question was how much is this costing me, (not counting insurance coverage). I was given a number and was happy to pay that. Later I learned that the two offices are independent of each other and charge separately. Paid the additional charges even though I feel it was very poorly represented. Now I am getting statements saying I still owe for the surgery side after insurance has paid. I paid at the time of the surgery. When I called to discuss the bill I am now told they were sold and they have no way to pull up my records. No confidence at all in the billing system or( sales?) procedure information.
