I DO NOT recommend this company. Jerry claimed he doesn't even know how to do flat roofs, after supposedly reroofing an entire house. The contract says "tear off existing roof", and install new shingles. It doesn't specify in the contract that something different would be done to the low slope part, nor was it explained that it was required. He wouldn't have been hired had he been honest. Now the roof is leaking in a bedroom closet, and his response was "I didn't do that part". He went so far as to ask "why is it just now leaking" --as this isn't the first time it has rained in the month since he installed it. He even said "maybe a branch fell on it". When I asked why would anyone want only part of their roof replaced, he said he doesn't question what customers want. At no point did he state that he doesn't do or know how to do flat roofs prior to the contract, and nothing in the contract says only part of the roof was to be removed. He was hired to replace the roof of the house. He literally said "the contract doesn't say entire roof". When I requested a partial refund, he said he'd wait till he's served, and boasted that a lawsuit will take a year. The shingles he added around the low slope portion of the roof are approximately an inch too high, causing water to pool instead of run off, and created a leak! Two roofers have been out to complete his unfinished work, and neither could understand why he did what he did. After I filed a complaint with the BBB, Illinois Attorney General, and IDFPR, Jerry backtracked saying that he does "all sorts of roofs"and offered come out to do an estimate and complete the work for an additional fee! That initial estimate, and call, were for the entire roof. It all should have been mentioned by him when he was asked to do the job if he feels somehow that the contract states something other than what he was hired to do. He knew that the insurance company requested that the home be reroofed. He even provided a typed and signed letter, stating that the needed work had been completed.
Jerry was very fast with responses. His crew was prompt, professional, courteous and knowledgeable. They took pictures of the roof to show me the before and after. I definitely recommend RK Roofing for jobs large and small, and I will keep them in my contact list for any future needs.
