My dad had spent what little he already had to cover $900 to have an appraisal done to find out about how well we qualify to refinance with a government-related loan. There was a few renovations regarding that which would need to be completed to pass and we had a three month window to get those done. I had then paid out-of-pocket to complete those tasks with the help of my wife and our children.
